It's taken longer than I expected to do one wall of siding, but I haven't worked any long periods of time on the wall. I'd glue a piece on and walk away for a while, come back, slap a piece up, and walk away again.
It took about 1/2 package of the siding to do this wall. It is the outer side of the Parlor. I didn't measure the distances of each piece, just simply glued it slightly over the top edge of the piece below. I DID use a level to make sure it was straight.....I seemed to have a good eye about that; usually, I was dead on level. This wall was really very simple to do, even working around the windows. Slowly, the side was covered and I am pleased with it. Eventually, when all the siding is complete, I will paint it a tan color, not chosen yet. As there are fireplaces on the other side of this wall, I will build a chimney of the same riverstone that I'm going to use for the foundation and the tower.
I will turn the house today facing front and do some thinking before I start that wall. I will need to work around the tower, one window, and the front door, plus I'll have to be sure to allow for the porch roof openings. I need to be sure of my plan for the wall. I'm thinking- first, siding all around, come back, lay the front porch floor planking, do the stonework until I reach the porch roof, add the roof, then finish going up the tower wall. I need to be sure before I make a move. I hate having to undo something and undoing any of these things would be messy and very frustrating. I won't start for a few days on the front...I have a list of real life to work on before I make a move, which will give me time to think of my plans.

Dear Kathy,
The sidings are coming along so wonderfully! Meanwhile, I have decided on paperclay bricks, and will probably buy direct from the factory. So I am trying to figure out how much paperclay to order.
Thanks, my dear. I think the brickwork would be lovely. Calculating the amount doesn't come easily for me...I'm not a math person and will probably have a lot of siding left. Hopefully, I'll be able to either find a use for it or another person to buy it at a cheap rate. Oh, I'm having so much fun.
The siding is coming along very well - I certainly admire your patience. Your slight overlap seems perfect.
Doreen, I appreciate that...I was going to do a longer overlap, but I like this distance, plus I didn't have to worry about measuring, since all the boards were the same width. I actually looked up a Victorian exterior site that helped me decide how I'm doing Garfield's...now I can't find the site again and I want to go back and read some more. I'll find it...I think I went though link's of Gina's More Minis. I've been watching your nursery...looking fine. Lucky baby!
Exciting! I think it will look wonderful and I'm eager to see it finished. Joanna's Victoria's Farmhouse is still in the box but coming out soon! Between carting my children to the various doctor's for some ailments and working three days a week, I'm still playing catch-up!

Thanks, Jody. I think that Victoria's Farmhouse has already made siding that's about 1/2 the width of this, looking at my Alison, Jr. It has a beautiful look and feel. I'm so sorry you've had to keep it in the box so long, but I understand having to cart the kids to the doctor's, only in my case it's been well checks for 4 cats and 2 dogs, then 2 sick cats. Those doctors get all the mini-dollars that I could better spend on furnishings.
This is coming along Very Nice!! I can't wait to see more!!
Kathy I have given you an award on my projects blog.
Way to go Kathy! My Garfield arrives Friday and looking forward to hearing your adventures.
